Customer appreciation for sustainable sugar production

This year, Nordzucker has reached an important milestone on its journey to sustainable beet sugar production. In all our countries our sugar is now third party verified according to the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) of the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAI). Our customers   appreciate our special commitment to sustainable beet cultivation.

"Our goal of having our farmers verified at least at the silver level according to the SAI standard is a great success and an important part of our overall sustainability strategy," says Iver Drabaek, Head of Sustainability, and Volker Diehl, Head of Industrial Sales, adds: "Sustainable agriculture is very important to us and to our customers. Thanks to our close cooperation with our customers at SAI, we can now sell sugar that is certified to sustainability standards everywhere".

Nordzucker is now concentrating on further developing the SAI standard in order to make its application more efficient for farmers. "We all depend on our farmers' strong commitment to sustainable cultivation and the quality of sugar beet. We definitely want to minimize duplication and unnecessary administrative work," says Christopher Münke-Svendsen, Agri Sustainability.
